Hi Maurice! Thailand is not a barometer for gold. This is to be found in India, which absorbs 25% of the gold production. But you are right: There are question of this will continue due to "... profound economic and social changes are occurring in India, some of which will affect gold demand.

It identifies threats to gold from diamonds, from other consumer goods and services, and "from the perceptible westernisation of Indian society . . . especially among the country's wealthiest segments".
