This critic missed something important.

This is not a stand alone film:
If you have not seen the first film or read the book, you will be lost. One of the two is required before seeing The Two Towers.

Another point:

This film is not really intended for children. Consider carefully before taking youngsters to see it.

Yes .. there are flaws. However, the critics need to start setting the stage for rating the movie as a whole .. One year from now.

This is a ten to 12 hour long movie with two, one year long, intermissions.

The first part, which was released last year, was a little slower than the second. As you might expect for the section of the film that introduces us to all of these fantastic settings and characters. There was a lot for us to digest.

The second part of the film in now here. The pace has picked up and a couple more characters have been introduced.

Near the end of The Two Towers one of the people said "We've won the battle of Helm's Deep. Now comes the battle for Middle Earth."

I intend to see this film several more times. I'm also very much looking forward to seeing the extended version when it is released.

It's been worth the thirty years of wait. One more year of wait to see the end is fine by me.

Peter Jackson assures us that the pace will be picking up in the last installment ..
