Excellent post Neo. History is a neglected subject today. Some might be a little stunned that I might write a post supporting reparation in some way. My true intent is that it might be possible to reach some sort of compromise in an effort to find closure on the issue of slavery.

Obviously, the government cannot just start mailing out checks. I do believe though that just as the Native American situation was unique so is the situation for decedents of slavery.

A possibly acceptable approach would be to create some kind of scholastic endowment of say a billion dollars and let African Americans run, invest, and manage it. This is not a trivial sum, but manageable.

Given that there are some 36 million Black Americans, I think such a plan would be much more fruitful than mailing out 28 dollar checks.
