Click through a few pages and you will see the facts. I'll save you the trouble. Here are the key points:
1. US defense spending as a percentage of GNP is at its lowest level since 1941. At ~3% of GNP, defense spending is at less than half the level that it was as recently as 1986.
2. US defense spending as a percentage of the federal budget is also at its lowest level since 1941. At ~14% of the federal budget, defense spending is at unprecedented low levels.
3. During the period 1985-2002, US defense spending has experienced the steepest rate of cuts in half a century.
