Affirmative action has to do with going out of your way to recruit or give breaks to minorities, it does not address motives, and certainly does not require that the hires be incompetent, or that damage be done to the business. The quibble, in any case, is that I do not think that the decision to hire has much to do with the "mission" of the business, I merely point out that it might enhance the stature of the business, and draw clients, or build greater loyalty among pre- existing clients. I already pointed out, though, that one might do it merely out of a commitment to integration.......
