Re The New Containment
I like it.
To achieve it , and convince an extremely reluctant Saddam to go honest, required all the actions taken to date.
The troop buildup, the firm stance by the Administration, the UN discussions.
Now ponder the benefits to all concerned if IRAQ agreed to allow Inspectors in-house permanently.
No oil problems
No accusations of US missuse of power on civilians
The needed improvements made to our military equipment
A great relief to adjacent country worries of having so much US power next door.
Etc
Perhaps only the Press would be disappointed in losing a big story.
