Okinawa...considered a vitual aircraft carrier by US WW II commanders. Secure in Allied hands by late spring of 1945...or was it? pacificwrecks.com army.mil geocities.com Note the last link where numbers of Japanese commandos are exaggerated and no US casualties admitted...perhaps friendly fire?
