That's not what the letter said and on this particular issue, its important to mince words.

Why do you people continue to argue with the facts? The letters words were to the effect of, "should you use WMD against us the president reserves the right to retaliate with ANYTHING in the United States' arsenal". In the last month Schwartzkopf has stated on "Hardball" that Saddam clearly got the message and there was no question what it meant.

Secondly, it was a ploy that may or may not of worked

Well, it may or may not have. Two things are known: (1) (I'll repeat, since you guys seem not to get it) The American leadership of the day believes it was crucial, and (2) We don't know what worked, but SOMETHING did, because he did not use WMD against us.

So what's the big deal?

It is no big deal except that some liberals on this thread have suggested that Bush should take our nuclear weapons off the table, which would be 110% stupid. That's what the big deal is.
