I predict that Senator Trent Lott will step down from his position as Senate majority leader, while remaining to serve as the representative of the people from the Great State of Mississippi.

I believe this because Senator Lott is an honorable man, and he has proved this a great many times. Because he is an honorable man, he places the process of democracy ahead of his own ambition, and without the overwhelming support of the majority, he will step down as majority leader.

I also believe that the example of former Vice President Al Gore should serve as an example of self-sacrifice to all Americans. By withdrawing himself from the 2004 race, he accomplished his goal of ensuring that the focus of America will stay on the future, rather than the past. In my opinion, by withdrawing himself so early in the process, he has made his sincerity self evident to all who possess good conscience.

BTW, because of his self-sacrifice, I have elevated former Vice President Al Gore to my personal list of great American patriots.
