If Lott resigns, the governor of Mississippi gets to appoint the replacement and that replacement would be the incumbent in the next election. Can you guess from which party the democrap governor would pick Lott's replacement? You get three guesses and the first two don't count. That is the gun that Lott is holding to the GOP head. "I keep my job or I resign my Senate seat and you lose your majority again." The GOP wants him to quit the majority Leader's position and stay in the Senate. There is a big game of hardball politics being played in the Republican party. The dem's want to see Lott lose his leadership position and have a hissy fit and resign his Senate seat, or second choice would be for Lott to successfully blackmail the Repub's into keeping the status quo. One way for the GOP to win, two ways for the Asses to win. First choice for the dem's is why the dem's are "so willing to forgive and forget." HAH!!
