i don't understand what investing conservatively means...i have a friend who tells me to invest sensibly and i don't understand what that means either...i suppose i could look for the lowest short term interest rate i can find as long as it is guaranteed by my government (or should that be your government, or maybe the Aussie government or maybe the New Zealand government) and either manage on the interest $ generated or pick up some work to make up the difference...but people don't WANT 2 % interest, they feel ENTITLED to more, and as such, bear risk that they don't even know about...
what do you do ? do you take the lowest interest rate possible ?
