John: I have been wondering about this...

Bush and Karl Rove are political animals who have been quite fortunate SO FAR. Yet, what do they really think they will gain by going to war with Iraq...? Its hard to come up with a President that has lead this country into a major war who was able to get re-elected. This war with Iraq and the re-building of the country could cost hundreds of billions and destabilize our already fragile economy. We have been able to contain Iraq (and North Korea) and why go to war when you really don't have to...? I firmly believe if we go to war next year our economy will take a big hit and The U.S. will become more vulnerable to terrorist attacks -- I can't see how Bush would ever get re-elected if this happens (IMO, going to war in The Middle East may accelerate the downfall of Bush and insure that he won't have a chance of re-election in '04). Unfortunately, we may have to experience a lot of pain and spend A LOT of tax dollars to demonstrate that history often repeats itself.
