SAMSys Technologies Granted Patent for Method and System for Tracking Clustered Items
TORONTO, Dec. 20 /CNW/ - SAMSys Technologies Inc. (SMY:TSX-VEN) ("SAMSys"), a world leading provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) hardware solutions, today announced that the U.S. Patent Office has granted the company patent number 6,496,806 entitled "Method and System for Tracking Clustered Items." This patent, filed in 1999 is one of a series in patent applications for SAMSys, all of which relate to the company's RFID innovations. This "Method and System for Tracking Clustered Items" patent provides a system for tracking individual items within a large shipment of objects in random orientation. SAMSys has created this unique approach to resolve practical problems relating to application implementation of high-volume product tracking and logistics management, particularly within the warehousing and distribution environments. The award of this patent demonstrates ingenuity and creativity by providing an RFID solution that effectively solves a number of widespread problems in the current Supply Chain model. "Being awarded this patent solidifies SAMSys' position as an innovator, and solution provider, within the RFID space," says Cliff Horwitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SAMSys. "After a long application process, we are pleased to have been granted this patent that reinforces the validity of our philosophy regarding the real-world deployment of RFID, as well as the use and value of the many applications which we believe can best be addressed through this methodology." This patent represents the second patent granted to SAMSys, the first being "A Tag Evaluation Module for Radio Frequency Identification Systems," assigned under U.S. patent number 6,346,881. Both patents will be protected by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office against competitive infringement. SAMSys has filed an additional patent application that is currently patent pending. |
