You endorsed the idea that the population "vote" could be taken as a poll, and therefore used to infer the level of support among the population of at large. The problem being, of course, that if the actual popular vote were a legitimate sample, the ratio should be reflected in each jurisdiction; additionally, children and some others cannot vote, yet are included in the population figures; and, finally, there is not reason to infer anything about support in comparing voters with non- voters. Non- voters may be registering an opinion of "none of the above".......
