Hi Mq, thank's for the kudos.

As a technowacko extremist myself I understand where you are coming from with regards to toothbrushes, phones and computers. In our house here the ratio of laptops, phone lines and mobile phones to people are all at or above 1:1. I've taken apart and cannibalized dozens of calculators (even back when they were super-computers). And designed and debugged and built some of the most amazing (for their time) supercomputers on the planet, which have been passed in capability by modern pocket calculators. Or will be, one day.

So yes, to me the allure of cyberspace is strong and potent. And like you, I have seen technology and telecommunications mature and grow around me and by my own hand through several decades. So yes, I know quite personally the stuff of which you speak.

But would you have me believe that you (and I) are representative of the planetary population? You and I and maybe millions of others have climbed so high up Maslow's hierarchy of needs that our behaviours are driven by motives that do not extrapolate well to mainstream society. Because the many millions like us are a drop in the bucket compared to the billions on the planet.

Mq, you are unique! And I mean that also as a compliment.

What gets us in trouble is when we project our own frame of reference upon those who would kill to stand where we are not content to rest.

John
