"From the demos it looks like MacOS might have retaken the lead."

I don't think so. It looks like they just integrated the look and feel of Aaron into the OS added a few new tricks and made it more stable.

Apple will probably not make any major strides in OS development until they release Rhapsody on time.

Don't get me wrong! I still love the Mac and still prefer it over NT. But looking at it from my Windows perspective, if I were a solid Windows user, I wouldn't believe that the benefits were great enough for me to switch.

Looking at it from a pointy-haired manager's perspective, it's still a Mac and you wouldn't be able to sell me otherwise unless you could prove that using the Mac would:

1) Help me cut costs in areas of a) Initial hardware investment, b) support costs, and c) Software compatibility with already established Windows systems.

2) Easy and flawless training and transition for Windows personnel. (I used to be a PC user in the 80s when DOS was King. I remember my the first time I sat at a Mac... "Where is the command prompt!!?? How do I list the directory!!? What the heck does this mouse-thing do!!?? and Won't the disk be deleted if I throw it in the trash!!?"

If I was coming from WIN95 or NT today it would be, "How come I can't make shortcuts when I drag apps to the desktop!!!?" "Where the heck is the start button!!? I can't find any applications on this thing!!??" "How come I can't see the properties of the objects!!?" "Where is the taskbar? I can't see what applications are running! and "Where is the right mouse button!?"

Rhapsody is the direction to the promised land, but we still need to help the others see the benefits clearly.
