You are correct
or
I should have checked

For practical purposes the out of court settlement would have a very similar impact on the public psyche but you are correct.
The matter still keeps cropping up in the Canadian press because David Carter, the ex Speaker of the Alberta legislature is pursuing the matter in court.
The issue is still ongoing and the lawyer for David Carter's court challenge, Jeff Rath says
"Our view is quite strongly that no one is above the law," Carter's lawyer. We want to make sure that the taxpayers are not left carrying the bag for $800,000 in expenditures that shouldn't have occurred simply because Mr. Day has a big mouth."

When this matter is finally settled Mr. Day will have learned a very valuable and possibly expensive lesson.
