Am I a Scrooge?
I really don't get this Christmas thing. I am not sure that I ever really have. This gift giving thing supposedly started when the 3 wise men took gifts to the baby Jesus? So now we all share gifts with each other to show our gratefulness to each other? Was that really what God had in mind when he sent his only son to be born? Granted, I Like getting and giving gifts. It is fun to get something that we want but is it really something that we Need? I was trying to make up a list of things to get people I know for Christmas and wondering if the gifts were really in line with the spirit of Christmas or not? After all most of my gifts did not really cost me any cash and maybe that makes me a Scrooge? My list consisted of those things that most either take for granted or have forgotten. For my girlfriend I gave her Sharing. For my immediate family I gave them each a little Caring. My neighbor I gave some Understanding. To people I had just met I offered some Friendship. Most everyone I gave some Compassion. To those who did things against me I offered some Forgiveness. I was adding a few more items to my list and saying to myself "Sheesh, I must be a Scrooge as none of this is really costing anything. All I am doing is giving of myself." I am not sure now. Am I being a Scrooge for Christmas? :^)
