It was a pretty long time ago that I wrote, "The best of the diamond indicator minerals are diamonds themselves." That is especially so in the case of core samples with grades in excess of 0.10 carat per tonne, something that seems quite common in the Coronation region.

So, it would be a cruel twist if there turns out to be not one economic pipe in the region.

I'll give the region until the end of 2004 to come up with the first glimmers of such a find. Aber poked around for three years before making its find in the spring of '94, after all. Panda and Koala were not the first finds at Ekati.

Yes, a year from now we'll have a better idea, and even moreso a year after that.
