Was it leukemia that Hugo died of? Yes, 58 is so damned young. He was just hitting the age of real wisdom and I can only imagine the poems and essays he would have written had he lived longer.

I grew up in a bedroom community of NYC and the atmosphere of the poem is pretty accurate. That's probably the only *happy* childhood poem I've ever written, though.

Aren't minks feisty little creatures?
