OT <and I also went to Home Depot in Sunnyvale. It was barren.>

Customer wise? Or merchandise wise? I wouldn't expect it to be filled with customers on "Mall Day". I would expect the "extra seasonal" merchandise to be gone. Which it was on my observation. From being in the retail business (large concentration on inventory management) I want to see certain things when I view a store. I saw exactly what I wanted to see in most stores. Inventory being cleared out. Shelf stock low. Either A.) Customers are buying, or B.) Stores had not aggressively ordered and stocked merchandise this year in expectation of a down season. Both A and B lead to good things.

Full shelves is the last thing I wanted to see. Evenif the store was wall to wall shoppers.

Your choice of shopping hours is a good one for peace of mind. But I'd imagine most had already grabbed the loot and were sound asleep by 2am.
