Now these dudes (Strike Minerals) done gone and got the Edwards Mine in Wawa, and a Ni-Cu property in Timmins which I hear they will drill in Janvier. The old Edwards was a money making mine in its day, with 0.25 ounce grades and 15 foot widths with "assay walls". (The ore is not clear cut but must be defined by assaying) Mining Corp sold it to them. MC used to operate the "new south zone" of the Edwards which ran about 1.0 ounces per ton for a while in the 90's. There may be other zones around. That area died way back when, at a time of low gold prices and high labour costs. Little incentive for exploration at the time.

The thing in Timmins is an old (1965) ni0cu trench that was never explored. There is massive sulphides in two parallel shoots which have been trenched but no assay data was heretofore available. Recent assays by the mines department has revealed ni in the 0.25% range, copper below 1.0% and some platinum values. The Pt is interesting as Pt has not been officially reported for the Kamistkotia Gabbroic complex which this showing is located in. The could be life in the drilling of this showing as the Otukumpu-Teck deposit in nearby Montcalm Twp. was a major drill-off around 1995 for the private Finnish company that bought it (Otokumpu Oy). They went underground and ramped to several 100's of metres deep. Scores of holes were drilled and ore was developed in the tens of millions of tons reputedly. Intersections were up to 400 feet of sukphides in core. So we could say that there was regional potential for development.
