No one gets permission to allow private discussions.
If in those private discussions you pass on classified information to someone who is not cleared to receive it and does not have a need to know, you have committed a crime. And you know it.

So while the government has an interest, there is some amount of trust that is necessary whether the security office likes it or not.
That's what clearances and background investigations are for.

I know plenty of people that don't abide by the rules when prepping their resumes.
Your responsibility is to report them. You said so yourself.

They aren't supposed to disclose what entity they work or have worked for, then the describe the types of work
That depends. Suppose I tell you I've written software in C under VXWORKS that ran in a ground station command generator unit. Anything classified there? I think not; I've done it for classified and unclassified projects.

AND I've commonly said in interviews "I can't go into that". And gotten the job anyway.

You, on the other hand, might be using a real name, in which case your rationalization is a bit tougher.
Oh, but I've put nothing classified on the 'net, so I have nothing to rationalize.

Quit whining and live up to your obligations.

Wimp.
