The limitations on freedom of speech apply to classified matters, not to everything political.
Unfortunately, not so -- that is exactly the point. Anyone can object in a secret submission to anything, with any reason, with no recourse except to the very agency that is censoring you. Therefore one would expect political and personal suppression, and indeed it happens immediately thereafter.
If you have any doubts you can read the trivails of individuals mentioned in my links of political objections that had nothing to do with classified information, and everything to do with individuals wanting to protect their turf.
This isn't a Bush-vs-Clinton issue, it's an all-powerful- central-government vs democracy issue. Democracy loses.
Besides being a lifetime prohibition, under PA and HDA they are attempting to apply this across gov't and contractors, about 4 million, along with anti-whistleblower legislation to threaten imprisonment and loss of income, and do whatever it takes to prevent publication like "The Pentagon Papers" years ago, and the Pheonix Memo recently.
There will be court tests, but what the federal and Supreme Court decides is likely to be an even greater expansion of the Snepp case (see Snepp in google or here towardfreedom.com |
