the author of the article places to much importance on the # of die shrinks while failing to understand that not everyone started out at the same point.

i do not doubt that MU is doing something comparable. they are making dram on a .35 micron process. so the article would have been much more helpful had the author stated the line geometry the NEC fab was using. then we would have known for sure about this low cost competitor crap.
of course, for that it would have been helpful to know what MUs yeild is, and compared that to NEC.
