No one disputes the desperation of North Korea.

My overall point is that if one were to look at the history of the World it is apparent that diplomacy and peace accords follow wars. My suggestion is to have a "virtual" war, sort out the differences and go right to the peace process.

I think the difference between the hawks and the doves depends on one's skill set. Either one is a diplomat or a warrior. And it depends on where one is on the timeline of world events. (Powell is the exception, and Zinni too).

When one is a hammer, eveything looks like a nail.
When one is a diplomat everything looks like diplomacy.
When one is a warrior everything looks like a war.

I guess anything we gave to NOrth Korea is part of the interactions mentioned in the timeline here.
