You sound like you have been on a continuous segment of the progress curve and have reached an area of diminishing returns. I had similar feelings a while back. The good news is that my feelings have changed because my requirements have changed. My discontinuity is that I want to listen to music or watch videos while I have peer to peer file sharing in the background and I have an intermittent need to view streaming quotes and read these threads and Yahoo company news. My discontinuity is just the start as we replace numbers and words presented in a GUI with music, video, and voice recognition.
