Why else are we now mucking about with the UNSC and the UNMOVIC inspectors?
Perhaps because the UN is the governing body in such international problems and not the US, contrary to what a lot of Americans seem to think?
Sharon was not in office
I have not he was in office "at the time". I have said that both sides have shown they are incapable of achieving peace on their own, to which you replied with the peace proposal. Then I gave Sharon's continuing expansion of the Israeli settlements on Palestinian territory as proof that his policies are incompatible with a solution to the problem.
Thus, both sides have shown they are incapable of achieving peace on their own. The best strategy would be for the US, the only superpower of this planet, to step in and apply equal pressure on both sides for a peace plan that is equally painful and equally acceptable to both sides. That's it.
By the way, I am interested in what you think a good peace plan would be like.
(Let us pass the "they control the terrorists first". Please tell us about the settlements, Jerusalem, Palestinian state, etc) |
