I would note, also, that the last "Profiles in Courage" award (administered by the Kennedy family) was given to Gerald Ford, a Republican, for his exceptional courage in rendering a pardon for Richard Nixon in the midst of heavy criticism for doing so. You would think this is daring.... a Rep. pardoning a Rep. but others might say it was just another variation on 'pork'. ted
