The obvious solution is to consolidate.

As it happens, those discussions are underway ...

But, speaking of photography, my background is much more oriented toward seeing an image and shooting it, without a lot of prep and production. I shot the cactus because it was sitting there next to me at breakfast, I found the morning light appealing, and the camera happened to also be on the table, having been just returned by my son (who has yet to return the charger, thus limiting its use!). If I had had to go dig out the tripod, even if it had been in the right house, I probably wouldn't have shot the picture.

I suppose this is one of my gripes about the current state of the art in digital photography since things like the long delay between shutterpress and image get in the way of capturing what the eye sees. Likewise the noisiness of higher ASA settings with no option for me to just use a better "soup" in the darkroom so that the image quality is still good. I understand that physics are against me when it comes to using things like a 24X telephoto, but even there I will more happily resort to a quick makeshift rest than want to carry around a big tripod whereever I go.
