try not to make it sound like an arbitration panel.
To each thing, its place ... this is a digital photography forum, after all!
Sons are a challenge, even when they're grown.
Indeed, mine has a couple kids of his own and while it has taught him something about delayed revenge, he is still a handful in his own way.
Try a good noise reduction add on for PS. It can work wonders.
I am still "making do" with PSE. It isn't a question of plunking down the money for the real thing, but a question of feeling like I want to get a better sense that I know what I am doing first ... not unlike wanting to make sure than one is getting very clean shifts in the Healey before plunking down for the Ferrari. I am feeling a little more in control lately, but still find myself quite baffled at other times. A lot of that has to do with layers and another big piece has to do with what "knob" to turn.
E.g., I had a shot a couple of days ago ... one of the tree with presents which I tried doing available light. The color balance was screwy and the shot was significantly underexposed because of some localized bright spots. I.e., one of those shots that I would have thrown away except that the one pair of batteries which were charged (remember the missing charger?) decided that they had done enough work for the day and so I was stuck with no way to shoot any more. I had several ideas of what should happen to it to determine whether or not there was a salvagable image in there, but couldn't seem to find anything useful to do with the color and couldn't figure out how to create layers which would allow me to apply masked changes. Some layers things I can do, but I am obviously missing a couple of key operations.
Now, if I could talk my son into giving a few lessons .... he is pretty good with PS since his mother wrote a couple of the books on the subject ... but I'm not holding my breath on that ... people with a 1 year old, 3 year old, and 10 year old tend to be pretty busy.
Or buy a dslr like Michal's and shoot at iso1600.
Like Peter, I am holding out for the price to come down a ways first. At some point I will be able to get a real DSLR with 10+Mp and good glass at a price that I won't be able to resist. |
