Well, Santa is officially AWOL. OEX and SPX both closed below Oct 15 highs (the top of the "big white candle" that newsletter I posted the other day noted as critical) where we bounced from after the Nov 11 low.

Any opinions on whether the extremely low volume today mitigates or offsets the bad closing prices in the minds of many technicians?

Year end also skews things whenever up vs down issues for the year are lopsided one way or the other. January effect should be stronger after such a lopsided downer of a year as more issues were subject to tax selling vs. deferral of gains. Even the winners could be sold - losses to offset the gains are plentiful for most.

Just thinking (worrying? grasping at straws?) aloud here. Comments?
