Dori,

Re: Was wondering if any of you remember a time when the U.S. was more disliked in the world.

Truth be told, the U.S. people always have been and continue to be looked upon kindly by people across the planet. The U.S. lifestyle and culture is the "gold standard" that teen-agers across the globe want to emulate.

It is only the aggressive, imperialistic, grossly unfair and anti-democratic foreign policy of the U.S. government that is being opposed by the rest of world. I think it's important to make that distinction.

Possibly embarrassed by the Catholic Church's acquiescence to the excesses of the Nazi regime, the last bunch before the Bush junta to stress the importance of preemptive strikes (also called naked aggression), the Pope has come out strongly in opposition to the madness of King George and his lapdog Tony Blair:

Even Fleet Street in London is clued in on the madness.
