You continue to evade my point however. This crisis came after the Bush rhetoric, on his watch...Clinton is long gone. The reactor was shut down until now. Inspectors and monitors were in place until now. The president (well, actually the people that are feeding him these horrible lines) has miscalculated and now it is backfiring. Who's failure did you say it was again?
The fact that Clinton is gone is immaterial -- it is HIS policy that got us to this point, just as HIS POLICY brought us the mess in Iraq.
The fact that NK is now becoming more beligerent has nothing to do with Bush; it has everything to do with its newfound power. Had Clinton's policy adequately contained NK, we wouldn't be in this fix. Your argument, apparently, is that Bush precipitated NK's actions with his "axis of evil" speech.
When Bush made his speech, he fully comprehended what he was saying, it was a very direct message targeted in a very specific manner. He recognized that we were going to have to get control of the situation in NK, as we COULD NOT allow NK to continue to sell weapons and delivery systems to any third-rate terrorist that came along. Again, a Clinton failure that Bush is having to clean up.
I only wish foreign policy were as simple as you seem to think it is. Mistakes of the Clinton administration will haunt us for many, many years to come. Surely you can understand that things Clinton did in the 90s will have lasting effect, just as Bush's actions today, will hopefully, have lasting effect.
He appears to have the makings of a great president. I sincerely hope the liberals aren't able to derail him midway through on the bogus economy issues like they did Bush 41. |
