It was far from a direct response. Non sequitur was the precise way to define it. Let me see if I can help illustrate by using an illogical inference based on one sentence of this post. res -It's good morning here. "since you didn't speak to me online yesterday, I'm glad I brightened your morning". See, an illogical inference, not based on anything you wrote, but based solely on your own mental model of what you wanted to believe. Speaking of "sophistry". :)
