In 1972, what was GW Bush doing? Going AWOL and drinking? John Kerry meanwhile was coming home from heroic combat achievements and making a moral stand. Yes I'm sure he was angry. His friends in arms were being killed for no good reason. He wanted to bring them home. Shame on you for perpetrating such criticism on a man who took three bullets for his country and saved many men when he could have dodged the draft like Bush and Cheney. 1972 was a tumultuous time. Nixon won the election promising to end the war with dignity after being pressured by moderates who joined liberals to say ENOUGH! Nixon then stalled the end until 1975, basically killing about 15,000 more Americans just so he could look strong to the hawks. It was an ugly time but men like John Kerry are to be applauded now, not maligned. The sooner ourt boys came home by then the better, and Nixon wasn't going to do it unless highly pressured.
