Kerry is universally supported by veterans groups in every state. He and McCain have led the fight for veterans rights and POW-MIA issues in a completely bi-partisan fashion. In fact Kerry's views rarely differ from McCain's making him a possible perfect choice for running mate. Who cares about Al Gore? He went to Nam and was a reporter. Didn't see combat. No big deal either way. But at least he went. And mortar shells can fall oni Army reporters any time. Kerry is a different matter. A true blue American hero, more so than any man in the US congress or Senate, Governorship or White House. Not even Tommy Franks or Colin Powell achieved as much during their Vietnam stints, and that's saying a lot because those two were heros as well.
