RNC Chairman Racicot's Statement on Bill Clinton's Comments About Republicans

WASHINGTON - Marc Racicot, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, issued the following statement today in response to Bill Clinton’s comments about the Republican Party:

"This is another tired example of Bill Clinton misrepresenting the facts and misleading the American people to gain political advantage. The Republican Party is led by a President whose first priority in office was bipartisan legislation to ensure that every child receives a quality education.

"He is a President who is committed to closing the gap between minorities and non-minorities on homeownership and who is working to allow faith-based organizations to help in the delivery of services to those who need help.

"President Bush is supported by a party that is committed to his principles and ideals and has worked tirelessly to bring new faces and voices not only into the Republican Party, but into the political process.

"Misleading statements and divisive rhetoric won’t improve education, create affordable housing, help bring compassion to those in need or move our country forward. Former President Clinton ought to know better."
