With all due respect I think there is a big big difference between a foreigner mingling in US society and a foreigner mingling with society in saudi arabia. In the USA a foreigner can dress as they please, females can drive cars and they can wear what they please and no one cares what religion you are, freedom of religion exists there.

Here is your orginal statement that prompted me to ask these questions....." Go to the Aramco complex (its more like a town) in Saudi Arabia. You would not feel like you were outside the US.
If you were a Texan, you'd feel quite at home :-)

So to get back to my original line of thought if you live in Texas and should happen to step over the state line you may not know that you are no longer in Texas. Customs are the same people are the same. If however you step across the foreigners town site line in saudi arabia you must start living by islam laws....I have never been to Texas but I think there is a big difference. :o)

I did note your point above about following local customs.
