Yes,component shortages do occur. In my own experienced we have experienced a tightness, due to a storm in the Phillipines causing
parts shortages at a vendor in Taiwan. But it did not cause us not to ship. I wouldn't think QDEL was exposed to that kind of thing. "Surprise" was the key word to me.
How did that happen, Production Control, Materials Management,
Purchasing, Vendor, rejected parts, who knows ?. Even if they had not had that $773,000 shortfall, revenue growth would only have been 5.3%, that surprised and disappointed me. I am not too upset given the
fact that this is a seasonal stock, strep throat etc. Although I was hoping h-pylori would even things out.
