why do they refuse to sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty?

Because Shimon Peres has already stated in 1995 that "Israel would agree to a nuclear weapons free zone in the middle east two years after the conclusion of a comprehensive peace accord among all states in the region, including Iran."

But Israel has signed the CTBT, stating they would not be the first to test nuclear weapons in the region.. Why has the US refused to sign the nuclear test ban treaty, but Israel did (9/25/96)??

And if the English and French hadn't meddled in the region by kicking out those fun-loving Ottoman Turks in 1917, it would all be a moot point...

Personally the worst thing that probably happened was the partitioning of the Middle East into a bunch of arbitrary and artificial nation states..
