The Weapons Inspection Scam
by James Buchanan
After racing around Iraq for a month checking the most suspicious locations, the weapons inspectors have found nothing. A twelve thousand page document, which is supposed to disclose every detail of Iraq's weapons programs, has been dismissed by the Bush administration as worthless. (Too bad the Republicans didn't have the same backbone whenever the Clintons dodged a subpoena by unloading a pile of worthless documents.) The whole weapons inspector episode has been a waste of time as President Bush continues to claim the Iraqis are hiding weapons. Bush has been ordered to make war on Iraq by the Israelis and no amount of compliance by the Iraqis will have any effect.
"Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said on Tuesday that Israel suspected Iraq has been transferring chemical and biological weapons to Israel's arch-foe Syria to hide them from U.N. inspectors." (Ref. 1) Why would the Israeli prime minister issue this statement at this time? Because the weapons inspectors have found nothing.
Imagine a paranoid neighbor tells the police that you are hiding an arsenal of machine guns in your home. Some BATF agent, who has nothing better to do, decides to take the complaint seriously and comes banging on your door at 2am. (Let's assume, through some miracle, the BATF avoids burning down your house with you in it or opening fire on you as you open the front door.) After ransacking your house all night long, they find nothing. Your paranoid neighbor then has the arrogance to claim that you transferred all your machine guns to another neighbor just before the search. Your neighbor's name by the way is Ariel Sharon.
In the case of Iraq, they have been under a magnifying glass (or spy satellite) for the last three months. Any undue vehicle traffic across their northern border to Syria would have been detected. There are rumors that U.S. rangers and Special Forces have been deployed into northern Iraq to search for Scuds that might be launched at Israel. It seems unlikely that anything secret or valuable would be sent through Iraq's northern roads to Syria, which pass under a "No Fly Zone" and which may be subject to ambush. The one overriding theme that governs our obsession with Iraq is "the safety of Israel at the expense of American lives."
Unfortunately most Americans don't need a reason to go to war. As long as the mass media and the White House say "war is necessary," most people go along with it. The attempt by Sharon to supply an excuse for America to go to war is completely unnecessary. Americans will do what they're told without asking if it is right or wrong.
Few -if any- talk shows discuss the fact that Iraq's Scud missiles have a range of only a few hundred miles, not much different from the V2 missiles Germany began producing 58 years ago. Iraq cannot attack the United States directly with its military. Only Israel is vulnerable and Israel is the overwhelming reason for a war against Iraq. Some people have claimed that oil is a significant reason for the war on Iraq, but at best it is a secondary reason. If oil were the main reason for the war, the Jewish-controlled mass media would be extremely critical of the war. Because the real reason is Israeli paranoia, the mass media has been overwhelmingly supportive of all efforts to push America into another Gulf War.
It should be noted that it took the United States from 1945 to the late 1950s to develop a missile that could carry a nuclear bomb across the ocean --and this was accomplished with the best rocket scientists in the world brought over from Germany to accomplish this task. It would take Iraq forty to fifty years to develop a missile with an intercontinental range. By then, we should have a missile defense shield.
The only realistic possibility of Iraq attacking the United States would be for them to sneak chemical weapons or a nuclear bomb across America's borders (assuming the Iraqis thought they could get away with such an attack without their country being obliterated with a nuclear retaliation). Because of our corrupt politicians, our borders have been left unguarded. The Democrats want millions of Third Worlders to sneak in so the next Democrat President can grant an amnesty for them and create millions of additional Democrat votes. The Republicans bow down to big business, which benefits from cheap Mexican labor while ordinary taxpayers are forced to pay the bills from the over-burdened county hospitals and public schools. Another reason why our politicians don't guard the borders is the drug trade. Some corrupt politicians have been getting paid off by Columbian drug lords to keep our borders wide open for illegal drug shipments. Bill Clinton reportedly allowed a massive drug operation to use the airport at Mena, Arkansas. At least nine people have been found dead in connection with this drug smuggling center. (Ref. 2)
If the United States followed a policy of strict neutrality, we would avoid the "foreign entanglements" that George Washington warned us against in his farewell address. We would not be the target of terrorism because we would not be supporting Israel as they continue to murder Palestinian civilians on a daily basis. (While it may be true the Palestinians are killing one Israeli for every three Palestinians killed, WE are buying the bullets and bombs for the Israelis. If you supply a homicidal maniac with a gun and bullets, you are criminally liable for what he does by U.S. law. Somehow normal legal considerations always seem to be waved when it comes to our relationship with Israel.) We have been fighting a war in Afghanistan for over a year, and now we need to fight Iraq and possibly Iran, Syria and North Korea. Meanwhile the U.S. economy and stock market continue to languish because billions of dollars are being spent on military operations at a time when that money would be better spent stimulating the economy.
America needs to adopt an "America First" policy. Strict neutrality and tight control of America's borders would be the best plan to avoid terrorist attacks. Endless meddling in the Middle East and unconditional support of Israel will guarantee another major terrorist attack against America. Our hopelessly unguarded borders will once again prove to be our "Achilles' heel." |
