Read Joshua Marshall's latest blog entry to get the same thing said a bit differently.

I did, thanks for the reference. Would that all criticism from the left were so thoughtful.

It is natural for human being to gripe and grumble when someone stands up and asserts leadership. I have seen it ofter in business. A moribund company gets a new leader who then sets forth on a new direction and instills a results-based discipline in the company. People don't run up and down the corridors praising the new guy. The gossip amongst themselves that he is unneccisarily tough and he doesn't know what he is doing. It is up to the new leader to win peoples respect. In the end, if he turns the company around and the results improve, people will gossip behind his back that they knew it all along.

It will be the same for Bush. If he produces results in the middle east, he will be a hero and the world will celebrate The Bush Doctrine. If he falters or worsens the situation in the middle east, he will be a bum.

Until then he should just ignore the gossip.
