yes -- overconfidence on many fronts is rampant. Honestly, it infects my own thinking. Economy is turning around ... Iraq will be simple a sideshow where we kick their butt and lower the price of oil for everyone, increase stability in the region ... Genomics will eliminate a whole host of diseases without causing any problems ... Latin America won't have a problems that spill over and impact us ... Current administration and party will retain the whitehouse and congress (I don't consider myself a repub -- more of a libertarian -- but that optimism is there) ... Our kids will live in a world materially richer than the one we have lived in ... We will be safer if the government has more information on everyone, since they are only after the "bad guys" And on and on ...
