Bank of America Predicts More Holiday Bills Will Be Paid Online Than Ever Before

Monday December 30, 10:00 am ET

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- More people will be paying their holiday bills online than ever before, Bank of America (NYSE: BAC - News) predicted today.

In January 2002, about 900,000 customers paid bills online. In January 2003, more than 1.8 million are expected to pay their bills online.

In January 2002, customers paid about 5.6 million bills online. In January 2003, customers are expected to pay about 11 million bills online.

In January 2002, the amount of the bills that customers paid totaled $1.7 billion. In January 2003, the amount is expected to be about $3 billion.

There are several reasons for the increase in online bill payments:

* Consumers are becoming more comfortable with buying products online. That has led to more comfort with paying bills online, too.

* Bill Pay at Bank of America is free.

* Paying bills online is easier. In January, Bank of America will begin providing online calendars; reduce the number of steps to add payees; and add a new feature that lets customers see previous payment amounts and dates.

Bank of America is the leading provider of Online Banking services, with more than 4.6 million active subscribers, the most in the industry. . .
