I just don't think there is any other choice. Ethnic cleansing by either side is not a choice. Not morally and, I suspect, not practically.

It's too simple to say there are only two choices: peace or ethnic cleansing. At the simplest, it makes more sense to talk about four categories: victor/vanquished (ethnic cleansing either way falls in an extreme case of this category), hot war, cold war (this category describes most of Israel's non-war relations with Arab states since 1948), and finally peace, which is not a mere absence of shooting but also an attitude, including diplomatic relations, trade, etc.

And when answering about whether the Arabs will ever sign or stand by a peace agreement, we have to talk about who could even sit at a table and hope to deliver such a peace.
