NT isn't just for "small" web servers.

Microsoft claimed during their recent World Wide Live teleseminar that microsoft.com (which runs on NT, of course) receives 15 million hits a day. I dare say that easily puts it in the top percentile of all web sites.

I think the UNIX crowd grossly underestimates the strength and determination that MSFT brings to the market. MSFT has promised to make IE 3.0 (including Java and ActiveX) available on both MacOS and UNIX platforms by 1Q97. MSFT's strategy is clearly two-pronged: make NT a highly capable and scalable web server (bundled with everything you need and Wizardized to the point where just about anyone can be a webmaster for all but the most sophisticated of sites) and a "bore from within" thrust to sell software to the UNIX market directly.

MSFT is moving faster than it ever has, and faster by far than any company its size has ever done. What's NSCP's answer to Visual J++, MSFT's just released Java development suite? With both J++ and Symantec Cafe pledging ActiveX support on the developer side, who believes that "pure Java" will be the norm? Combine dogged determination, great technology, second-to-none market savvy, and unmatched financial depth and it is difficult to see how MSFT can fail.
