Good point. For instance, we only hear on FoxNews that "Saddam poisoned his own people." We never hear "Saddam poisoned his own people with the posions we gave him."

America never shied away from arms merchants either above or underground in nature. Indeed, 'tis a good way to get rich and richer, if so connected. Drug War is pretty much the same: good way to get rich or richer, if so connected.

I recall debating someone somewhere on SI about the disparity between wealth and poverty in America. I got back some kind of response about how it's great that so many millionaires get spawned from within the U.S.

Well, yeah, the stock market made some; lotteries made more; illicit arms and drugs shipments made others tidy and well-to-do; and I interestingly note 43 millionaires just got elected into the U.S. Congress. Indeed, we are a land of opportunity, eh?

But how many of this bunch got rich by bootstrapping out of the ghetto into a university education and then starting an enterprise to net 'em a million or more?

Pretty much it seems the rich money simply cycles and recycles around itself, and I find little reason to take pride in that. Anyone agree?
