Ted Re..If I thought for one moment that her discussion in front of those kids was intended to undermine the American position, I would be outraged.
However, her position is your position; and both of you think that should be the American position. And I didn't say she was undermining the US position, just that she probably was supporting her position. And in fact, we do not know what the question or questions were leading up to that statement. She likely said it on a spur of the moment type thing, maybe she was asked to defend her Iraq position; and maybe that is what she said, without thinking it through.
Sometimes you see these signs.....My way or the highway, or America.....love it or leave it. For me, that's the way exchanges on this thread feel like. I love this country but I also see its flaws and I am not afraid to point them out when I think its appropriate
And the reason that came into play here, her answer not only was a flat out lie, but it also was a blame america type of sentence. When she put on that last part "but we don't do that here, she was implying that America would be loved as much as OBL if we had only not been so chintzy and given some money to the poor people in the Arab countries. Once again, it is America's fault, even though the facts show that America is by far, monetary wise, the most generous nation on earth. Our problems with the Arabs have nothing to do with us being chintzy, it may be because of advertising, or policy differences, or civilization clashes; but chintzy is not it. |
