I stayed away from your wider argument because I think it has much merit, but like you I also hate quacks and charlatans. I have my own dread of bureaucrats. Particularly as I write this from somewhere other than where I would prefer because bureaucrats decreed that if I went, they would not permit me to return.

Happy New year, which you must have celebrated already. Being removed from the official start of the New Year, the Greenwich meridian, courtesy of bureaucrats, I intend to celebrate it at the appropriate time, 4pm here. On the otherhand, it would be churlish not to join the locals, so it's going to be a long day.
